Native American Indian artist, photographer, and story teller had the luxury of growing up in the City of Providence Rhode Island and the peaceful woodlands of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Pocahontas is a self taught artist. She claims that all art is an expression of an individual's true spirit. Pocahontas believes that whenever an individual opens their spirit to the beauty of the world they are able to freely express the forces of life and the eternal connection to all of humanity.
Pocahontas spent most of her time alone reflecting on the spiritual things in life and during her reflection tried to capture and illustrate the connection of Universal powers and humanity through her art work. Recognizing the values of education, Pocahontas sought out and achieved a bachelor degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College. After graduating college Pocahontas went into freelance photography and reporting. In 1991 Pocahontas ventured into founding a small non profit Native American business to educate the general public on Native American culture through arts humanities and cultural customs.
During the time of operation of her non-profit business, Pocahontas fully recorded and documented all of her programs as well as most traditional Native American cultural events that took place throughout New England. In addition to specializing in the photographic documentation of Native American affairs, Pocahontas also photographs a wide array of special events, such has weddings, anniversaries, baby showers, Jack and Jill bridal showers, parties, rehearsal dinners, rehearsal weddings, school plays, political functions, concerts, theatrical productions, comedian shows, sports, leisure, entertainment events, birthday parties, baptisms, christenings, confirmations, traditional and religious ceremonies, personal portraits, and any important occasion that might necessitate a memorable keepsake with photography. Pocahontas believes that photography is about capturing and recording the spirit of each and every given moment of time. Pocahontas states that photography is being able to capture that one special moment that reflects the true essence and spirit of what is of great significance and monumental value, she saids no matter who routine our life may seem , it is never the same day twice, there is always something new and different that each day and moment brings our way, we could walk down the same street each day and it is never the same street twice. Photography allows us to capture the things we hold dear to us and share our events and special moments with loved ones and people we hold dear. Photographs essentially capture given moments of time that can never be reproduced. Essentially, Pocahontas believes that photographs are essentially a lifetime keepsake that allow people to share stories and sacred moments in a their lives.
